Reflexology
Reflexology is an enjoyable and relaxing complementary therapy treatment involving direct touch to the feet and ankles, and/or ears and hands. All those areas are covered in reflex points which represent other parts of the body and, by stimulating these reflex points, reflexology helps to restore balance and encourage the body's own healing potential. Commonly Reflexology is performed on the feet, moving on to the hands and/or ears where physical restraints, such as plantar warts or fractures, apply.
Reflexology treats the whole person and, in its general form, is great for inducing both mental and physical relaxation and for rebalancing the body. The foot is divided into a number of reflex zones corresponding to all zones of the energy of the body, and applying pressure in the form of massage to "tight" or "gritty" areas of a person's foot will stimulate the corresponding part of the energy body and assist the self-healing process. Contrary to some beliefs, reflexology does not seek to diagnose or cure medical conditions - merely imbalances in the energy of the body.
Reflexology isn't something to be used only by those suffering from illnesses and disorders; it is equally beneficial as a preventative health measure. In today's society, many of us live with greater pressures and we are constantly 'on the go'. Consequently our bodies have to work harder to maintain a healthy balance on both a physical and emotional level. In order to cope with these extra pressures we all need to find time to relax and give our bodies and minds time to re-energise, so that we are in good shape to ward off illness. Everyone needs a little time to relax and unwind.
