FAQ
Do I need a Medical referral to visit a Chiropractor?
No, you do not need a referral by an MD before visiting us. Chiropractors are first contact physicians, and are so defined in federal and state regulations. Following a consultation and examination, your doctor of chiropractic will arrive at a diagnosis under chiropractic care, or refer you to the appropriate health care provider.
Does Insurance cover chiropractic?
Chiropractic is covered by most private health funds. In addition, there is a chiropractic benefit in Worker's Compensation, Transport Accident Insurance. Chiropractic care is also available to members of the armed forces through the Dept of Veteran's Affairs.
What's that "popping" sound when a joint is adjusted?
The popping sound is the release of gas contained within the joint. Which, you may hear when an adjustment is performed. This is not required for the adjustment to be successful.
I can crack my back on my own?
By trying to crack your own back, you may be causing more problems. First of all, it is difficult to achieve. But more importantly, major part of making adjustments is proper positioning, which is hard to achieve on your own. When you attempt to make and adjustment on you own, any joint that is capable of moving could achieve the "pop" sound associated with an adjustment. However, this does not mean you have returned movement to the proper joint. Along with the release of nitrous oxide comes the release of endorphins. Endorphins will give you a brief sense of euphoria, making you believe you have cured your problem. Unfortunately, the pain will likely return approximately 25 minutes later. If you continue to adjust yourself every 20 minutes for relief, then the joints will become hyper mobile and therefore more difficult to maintain stability!
Is it necessary to keep coming? (to the chiropractor)
Our Chiropractors will recommend a Treatment Plan designed to achieve the outcomes you are looking for.
Based on your chiropractor's "Report of Findings" (possibly including X-rays), you will be advised up-front the extent of Chiropractic Care recommended, how long it will take and what it will cost.
How long you choose to benefit from Chiropractic Care is always up to you. Many Chiropractic clients choose a regular Chiropractic check-up to maintain life-long greater health and performance.
