Exercise Physiology
This is a university course which uses musculoskeletal assessment to identify joint dysfunction, identify tight and under active muscles. Exercises and stretches are then prescribed to restore normal balance and biomechanical function of the musculoskeletal system.
We use the exercises that:
- Restore normal active range of motion of the joint.
- Stabilize the dysfunctional joints
- Strengthen and increase muscle endurance
- are Sport or activity specific
Where can Exercise Physiology be used?
Injury Rehabilitation
To prevent relapses into acute pain, Active Care offer injury rehabilitation designed to specifically target muscles that have deteriorated due to poor posture or injury.
In accompaniment to regular chiropractic care, the rehabilitation programs are designed to help prevent exacerbations from occurring through the strengthening or stretching of muscles surrounding the joints.
The main advantage of these programs are they can be carried out in your own chosen setting, be that home, work, on site or in a hotel.
Athletic Performance
We at Active Care believe that chiropractic is not only beneficial for acute injury care but also for improved biomechanical function which can be used to better performance.
As an athlete, it is imperative to function at your absolute optimal. Most often, this loss in function is not totally recognised until we are in pain or an injury occurs. It is thought that joint restrictions, which chiropractor's are trained to detect and correct, cause this interference to the nervous system resulting in a decrease in function and ultimately pain.
